Yes, I am female. And proud of it.

Call me strange, but I absolutely love filling in forms that ask me for my gender. I joyfully put down a big F, and every time I think how blessed I am to be female.

It makes my heart hurt to think that there are some women out there that HATE their gender. This makes me truly sad. Being female is a big part of my identity. If I wasn’t female, I wouldn’t be me! Let me lead you through a bit of my brain process on this.

I love being female. Yeah, there are some things about it that kind of suck (period cramps anyone?), but all in all I love it.

I love that I am different from my brothers and my dad.

I love that God created me to be relational.

I love that I am a “sister” to all my little siblings.

I love that right now I carry the title “girlfriend.”

I love that one day, Lord Willing, I will get to carry the title of “wife.”

I love that I have hair to play with, and that I am allowed to wear it longer than a boy can.

I love that I notice detail more than most boys would.

I love that I can dress up and have a sense of style.

I love that I can interact with others in a special way that only a woman can.

I love having motherly instincts when it comes to my younger siblings (and hopefully my future children).

I love it that my body is built to one day carry babies.

I love it that my body is able to provide food for my babies when they are born.

I love being female.

I have heard fellow gals complain and say something like “ugh I wish I was a boy.” Part of me understands. Periods suck. Girl drama sucks. Labels suck. Believe me, I know.

But what about all the good things?

We have a natural knack for things that some guys would love to do! We get to love in that deep and special way that only a girl can. We get to have super deep and close relationships with your besties. (I know that I wouldn’t be able to live without mine!)

Even in the future, being female is a wonderful thing. We get to be our husband’s right hand and confidant. We get to be the first to know if we are going to have a baby. For the most part, we get to raise our children into the kind of adults that they are going to be one day. We get to have a special connection with our children.

There are so many things about being female that I don’t think I could possibly live without!

Yes, there are some things about it that are not so fun. But honestly? Being female is pretty awesome.

I love that God created me different. He knew what He was doing when He created two genders, male AND female. And because I know that God created me EXACTLY how I am supposed to be, I can embrace my femininity to the fullest and be thankful to God for giving me the gender He did.

Yes, I’m female. And proud of it.

What are some ways that being female makes you unique, special, and beautifully designed by God? What is your favourite thing about being a girl?

Great post!! I know I’ve struggled with focusing on the things I don’t like about being a girl, but there’s so much more to be grateful for!!
